Chrome Extensions – 9 More Favorites

Evernote

As promised, here are another nine great extensions for Google Chrome. Six are tools that should make everyone’s web browsing easier and more productive. Three address a more narrow set of needs, but can be a huge benefit if they address one of yours. Four of them now occupy prime real estate on my toolbar.

Be sure to comment and tell me about your favorites!

Add to Amazon Wish List

Amazon Wish Lists are universal. You can add anything from any website to your Amazon Wish List making it easier than ever to keep track of all the items you want in one place.

You can use your Amazon Wish List as “bookmark” for the item and its web page.  Or, if Amazon carries the item, you can immediately compare prices with Amazon’s in the popup window.

Evernote Web Clipper

Use the Evernote extension to save things you see on the web into your Evernote account. It even lets you search through your notes.

Evernote Web Clipper is a great way to remember all of the great stuff you see online. Save the entire web page – text, links, images and all with a single click, or:

  • Click the extension when viewing a blog or news site, and it will automatically save the whole article
  • Selection clips: Highlight the text, links and images that you want to save, then click the extension
  • Links only: Choose the Clip URL option to grab just the link

Now you don’t have to search any web page for a Facebook Like button. You will always know exactly where yours is.

IE Tab

Display web pages using IE within Chrome. Supports ActiveX controls, Sharepoint, ICBC, alipay. A “Top 10” extension since 2009!

You probably have sensed by now, I am not a huge IE fan. But, I still have to make my stuff work in it. You may too, if your company only supports IE on your work computer or for their websites.

InboxQ

Find people asking questions on Twitter about things you know. This is a great tool for bloggers searching for article ideas.

Search the Twitterverse for trends and topics by creating and saving custom searches, or reply to tweets and start a conversation. InboxQ searches can be great entertainment too. There are some real strange agents in Twitterdom!

Google Translate

This extension translates entire web pages into a language of your choice with one click. By the Google Translate team.

If you have a relationship with people who speak another language or, you do business in other countries, this extension is invaluable. I also use the Google Translate website to translate words and phrases: http://translate.google.com/.

I have twitter followers from over 15 different countries now! Google Translate tools allow me to have conversations with them. Custom, slang and local dialects make this a little tricky but sincerity helps smooth any ruffled feathers. A friend told me, I have probably insulted mothers all over the world!

Chrome Toolbox (by Google)

A quick access tool that allows you to put your favorite browser commands in one drop down menu, save unsubmitted form data, magnify images, view videos in standalone windows, and define shortcuts to open all links in any bookmark folder.

Panic Button

Hide all your tabs at once with one single button and restore them later.
PanicButton makes it easier for you to hide all of your tabs at once just by clicking on a button. They are then saved as bookmarks in a separate folder. Afterwards, the PanicButton turns green and shows you how many tabs are currently hidden.

Another click on the PanicButton restores all of the tabs you have hidden earlier.

This tool is awesome! It’s not just for hiding stuff from your boss. It can be a life saver anytime you need to refocus your attention on someone or something else.

I hope you find these Chrome extensions as useful as I have. There are just too many to try! I will keep trying them though. Come back soon and see what new ones have percolated up to a home on my Chrome toolbar!
Please leave a comment and tell me about the extensions you use!
